Hedgelaying this Saturday 4th February, please contact Andy Ingham or “contact us” if you would like to join in, places are limited and you will need decent work boots.
We found the UK Bap species Tubular Water Dropwort on the last botany walk. This is exciting because it was last found 30 years ago. It can’t cope with competition so the mowing and baling last year may well have helped seedlings from the seedbank thrive. The last botany walk is 9th August 2016, this Tuesday, meet at 7pm at the white gates, to see what rarities we may find.
Awful weather last Thursday delayed the annual Balsam Bash. It’s rescheduled for tonight Tuesday 5th July 2016, the forecast is fair so please come along, more hands make less work. Meet Bottoms Lane at 7pm, old clothes, gloves and stamina all useful.
Come along to The Friends of the Meadows Balsam Bash 7pm, Thursday 30 June 2016. Meet Bottoms Lane, bring gloves and suitably scruffy clothes, midge repellant if you need it. All welcome!
Beetle Survey Results. Our Beetle expert found 72 species including 2 notable B species. He was impressed and it shows current management of Chester Meadows is encouraging biodiversity.
Our Cheshire Beetle expert was down on the Meadows on Saturday 30 April 2016. We will report any rarities. He says the site will warrant several more visits, so expect to see someone with a leaf blower and pooter again.
