Duke’s Drive and Meadows Walk

Join Rachel and Friends of Duke’s Drive for another walk along the Duke’s Drive to Eccleston then return along the riverside meadows to Handbridge.
We’ll meet by the Dukes Drive Entrance gates at Overleigh Roundabout at 2pm. Home by teatime!

5th July 2016 Awful weather last Thursday delayed the annual Balsam Bash. It’s rescheduled for tonight, Tuesday 5th July 2016. The forecast is fair so please come along, more hands make less work. Meet Bottoms Lane at 7pm, old clothes, gloves and stamina all useful.

30th June 2016: Not sure what Himalayan Balsam looks like? Your chance to find out. Know what it looks like, don’t know how easy and fun it is to pull out? Come along to The Friends of the Meadows Balsam Bash 7pm, Thursday 30 June 2016. Meet Bottoms Lane, bring gloves and suitably scruffy clothes, midge repellant if you need it. All welcome!

Tuesday 10th May
Meet at Bottoms Lane Entrance
A quick (by botanical standards) walk round Gorsty Bank, ID trees, look for saplings to replant in hedge gaps, then down onto the meadow for sedges and grasses.

Tuesday 14th June
Meet by the ferry.
Another look at the willow carr by the river bank nearer to ferry, and check grassland species.

Tuesday 12th July
Meet Lower Park Road entrance.
Quick look at Barnfield – concentrate more on damp patch nearer river; count hedge species, then back onto pond area, count orchid spikes and look at ditch flora.

Tuesday 9th August
Meet at North West Gate by the riverside path (White Gate entrance)
Explore the river bank opposite Deva Terrace
